Your child should be encouraged to play football only when he/she exhibits an interest in doing so. As soon as the child can comprehend team play and wants to participate with a team, then a child is ready for tackle football. Tackle football is accessible to children with diverse physiology in ways that other sports are not. Our Mighty Mites (MM) division is for players aged 8 or 9, there is no weight limit. MM is 6 on 6 football, we do not keep score, coaches use a generic play book, and practices and games are controlled at all times. This is a great division for children to start.
Although Mighty Mites is a great place to start, tackle football is a game that children can start at any age. We also have the Atom division (10 & 11 year olds) and PeeWee division (12 & 13 year olds), we have weight limits in these divisions as we believe players that are of relatively similar skill level, strength, age and stature, can compete safely in tackle football. Players can even start at in the Bantam division (14 & 15 year olds) which has no weight limit.

An understanding that it's "not always the size of the dog in the fight", but sometimes "the size of the fight in the dog", that prepares a child to play tackle football.
