Hello Coach,
Once again, RMF will be presenting Coach Development Sessions for all coaches, whether you have coached for years, or are brand new to tackle football. The presenters will provide content specifically focused on coaches working with minor football players. This summer we have doubled our sessions from two to four, and have added some new session topics to meet the needs of our coaches. As a league, RMF is only as good as our coaches, so we strongly encourage you to continually enhance your coaching knowledge and skills; encourage other coaches on your team to join you! Before you register, take a look below and figure out how many nights you'd like to attend......Come every night and participate in every session. 1 night $20, 2 nights $30, 3 nights $40 and all 4 nights $50.
If you register to attend, please arrive by 5:45 to allow time for organization and introductions.

All positional skill sessions (QB, RB, OL, RC, DL, LB, DB, Specialists) will be on-field sessions. Coaches will learn stance, alignment, initial movement and positional drills for players to be effective in a variety of situations. Coaches will actively take part in the skill progressions and drills. Facilitators: QB - Jaeden Marwick (former Regina Thunder QB, current U of R Rams offensive coordinator, and Regina Football Academy teacher-coach); RB - Chris Latimer (former Sheldon Spartans head coach and current Team Saskatchewan U16 RB coach); OL - Max McFadden (former Regina Thunder and U of R Rams OL); RC - Emmett Steadman (former U of R Rams RC and current Team South Sask RC coach); DL - Wil Putland (former Regina Thunder DL and current Team South Sask U16 head coach); LB - Sheldon Gray (former U of R Rams DB, current U of R Rams defensive coordinator, and Regina Football Academy teacher-coach); DB - Marcus Hall (former Regina Thunder DB and current Team South Sask U16 DB coach).
Offense and defense Q&A sessions will be in the classroom, and facilitated by Ryan Hall and some of the position coach facilitators. Content will be based on questions from the participants, so come prepared to ask specific questions to enhance your knowledge of offensive or defensive systems and strategies (we can ever talk special teams if you want).
The Specialist Skill sessions will be on-field sessions where coaches will learn the basics of kicking, punting and long snapping that are crucial to team success in the kicking aspect of Canadian football, including RMF Pee Wee and Bantam divisions. Facilitators: LS - Mat Nesbitt (former U of R Rams LS and current RMF coach), PK - TBA.
The Coaching Wisdom session will be facilitated by Ryan Hall and will cover a variety of coaching tips gathered over almost four decades of learning, experimentation, failure and success.
The Skill Circuits sessions will introduce a variety of drills for your whole team that focus on the essential football skills related to blocking, tackling, ball security, block defending and creating turnovers. Skill circuits are a great way to get your whole team involved in high tempo drills that enhance crucial skills. This on-field session will be facilitated by Wil Putland and Sheldon Gray.
The Setting Team Expectations session will be in the classroom, and is especially intended for head coaches and team managers. The focus will be on designing and communicating appropriate team expectations that may be somewhat counter cultural in 2026, but necessary for effective and progressive team functioning. It will be facilitated by Ryan Hall.
The Special Teams Drills session will be on-field and will be facilitated by Ryan Hall. A variety of drills will be introduced to cover punting, kicking, and returning situations. These drills can be done by the entire team, and can be used in a special teams session during practice, or as conditioning drills that demand football skill and understanding, not just running.
